Introducing West Fraser

West Fraser is one of the largest diversified wood products companies in the world with more than 60 facilities in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. From responsibly sourced and sustainably managed forest resources, we produce lumber, engineered wood products (OSB, LVL, MDF, plywood, and particleboard), pulp, newsprint, wood chips, other residuals, and renewable energy.

Engaging with Indigenous Nations

We work and engage with more than 80 communities on a regular basis, touching more than 100 Indigenous governments, communities and organizations in Canada. These engagements occur through our mill and forest operations, sustainable forest management activities, community engagement initiatives, consultation processes and business relationships.

Our approach involves building mutually beneficial working relationships through workforce, community, and economic engagement. We provide scholarships and workforce readiness programs and support cultural awareness learning, community events, and the economic impact of local supply, service and procurement contracting. Today, approximately 8 per cent of our employees in Canada self-identify as Indigenous.

Pursing Progressive Aboriginal Relations Certification

As a proud member of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB),West Fraser is excited to announce that we are Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) committed, and are working on becoming PAR certified over the next three years. PAR is a leading certification program developed by the CCAB that confirms corporate performance in the four pillars of Aboriginal relations – Leadership Actions, Community Engagement, Business Development and Employment.
This initiative reflects our continuous commitment to collaborative, respectful, long-term relationships with Indigenous communities.
